Ep3: USAC LTAD Part 2 and Quadrant Analysis
Monday Mar 25, 2019
Monday Mar 25, 2019
Today we continue with the LTAD (Long Term Athlete Development) from USACycling. See episode 2 for the first half of the LTAD. The LTAD is a development pathway set out by USACycling for riders to follow as they improve in the sport. What areas of their technical/tactical/athletic skill should be developed at what time? And what is the progression of riders throughout the sport.
We also discuss Quadrant Analysis. Quadrant Analysis is a feature of Golden Cheetah and other data analysis platforms that breaks down each data point into a chart of cadence and power. Conclusions can be drawn from your plots and maybe you can gain some insight into your strengths and weaknesses and where you can improve.

Episode 2 of the Performance Cycling Podcast:
Today we discuss the LTAD (Long Term Athelte Development) as presented by USACycling. This topic is a series of recommendations outlined in USACycling's Coaches Manual for how to develop a rider from start to finish. It talks about when rider's should focus on certain areas of the sport and how their training and racing will change over time. It's a good discussion for any rider looking to see where to go next with their development and goals.
We also discuss anomalous races. These are races or events where you don't know what happened or why it happened but you had great legs on a certain day and did A LOT better than you thought you would. We ponder the possible causes and talk about our own experiences with incredible races.

Monday Mar 25, 2019
Monday Mar 25, 2019
Our first episode of the Performance Cycling Podcast explores nutrition during races and mobility self assessments.
Nutrition is vitally important to success of races over lengths of about 60 minutes. We discuss some strategies used and goals as a rider for eating, hydrating and ensuring their fuel stores are maximized for racing.
Mobility is also key component to a good athlete and cyclist. The ability to be flexible and mobile can help reduce common cycling pain areas (back and knees) and also improve power on the bike. We discuss a few ways individuals can check their mobility and move towards a more flexible body.
